2020 FUTURITY
The Ohio Percheron Breeders Associations started hosting a futurity for decades with the goal of promoting the Percheron horse.
Offspring of any Registered Percherons can be entered in the Futurity as long as they were entered in the Futurity by Dec. 1 of the year prior to their birth.
FUTURITY SOURCE OF THE FUNDS: Source of the funds for premiums shall be initial entry of bred mares by December 1 and final entry by June 1 of the following year. Sponsors will be solicited and advertised as such for additional premium monies.
FUTURITY ENTRY: Initial entry fee of $100 to nominate registered purebred Percheron mare bred to any registered purebred Percheron stallion. No limit will be set as to number of mares nominated by any individual. Final entry and an additional payment of $100 will be due no later than June 1 of the year the foal is born. No limit will be set as to number of foals each owner may show.
To be eligible for the competition, a copy (front and back if necessary) of the registration papers for the designated mare must be received by the OPBA on or before December 1 of the year the mare was bred.
The designated mare MUST BE OWNED by the person making the entry. No leased mares are permitted. A bred mare is transferable. The futurity right of the designated mare’s foal cannot be postponed to the following year.
If the mare is sold after being bred, all futurity rights of the foal will be transferred to the new mare owner.
A copy of the foal’s registration papers must be furnished to the OPBA prior to the show. A notice will be mailed in advance of the show.
All foals shown in the futurity may be subject to parentage verification as deemed necessary by the OPBA following the competition. Any discrepancies will force disqualification. Class winners will be
verified routinely.
All weanling owners are responsible for stabling arrangement at the futurity show. Foals will be shown at the Ohio State Fair on the day before open halter competition.
All entries will be mailed to Larry Honsberger (contact information is on the entry form),
FUTURITY PRIZE MONEY: Ohio Percheron Breeders Association will retain 10% of the gross proceeds. The cost of parentage verification will be paid by the Association out of the 10% retained for administrative expenses. Prize money will be paid up to eight places in each class. There will be junior (on or after March 15 foaling date) and senior class for both fillies and colts. ALL PREMIUMS WILL BE PAID OUT after deduction of the 10% administrative fee.
OPBA will be in charge of obtaining three judges prior to the show, and judges will not be announced previously.
